I
have referred patients to Aquatic Therapy's wonderful facility in Ipswich.
Every one of them have reported that they were impressed with the personal
attention they received, the knowledgeable and caring therapists at
Aquatic Therapy and the beautiful surrounding in which they received
their therapy. All found their therapy to be beneficial. I have found
Aquatic Therapy is helpful for patients who require strengthening exercise
but cannot do land-based exercises such as treadmill or bicycle because
of knee or back injuries. Therapy is more effective when patients look
forward to their sessions and so follow through with their care thus
improving their conditions.

During
my 15 years of practice on the North Shore I have on numerous occasions
referred my patents to Aquatic Therapy. The results have always been
at least good and frequently been phenomenal!
Strengthening exercise performed in water is only a portion of what
Dale and her staff have to offer. The results however that my patients
have enjoyed have been fantastic and typical they report no difficulty
or pain after an aquatic exercise session as there is no pressure on
weight bearing joints.
I will continue to refer patients to Aquatic Therapy again as the results
speak for themselves.

As a Parkinson's patient, I fully appreciate the importance of remaining
mobile as long as possible. Aquatic Therapy affords me the opportunity
to do this, with its staff of professional therapists, an individualized
program to meet my specific needs and the calming and soothing milieu
of the heated water which makes exercising a positive experience to
look forward to.

Hi,
my name is Emily, age 10. I go to this therapy and I love it for several
reasons. One is it's not work, work, work. It's work and play and there's
never a dull moment because all the therapists and people in the pool
are very nice. And while you're working, soothing music is playing.
They have a lot of neat toys (a.k.a. work stuff.) Another reason I like
this therapy place is it helps you with your disability. Take
me for instance. I have juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in both my knees
and with the help of this therapy place my left knee is better and my
right is inches away from having a kneecap. So if you need therapy,
come here and you won't regret it. Thank you!

My
name is Susan Carr and I walked into Aquatic Therapy this past January
a very different woman than the one who writes this story today. A friend
who I have met in the pool described me as "looking gray, bent
over, walking with my cane and obviously in great pain." On September
9, 1996 I severely injured 4 discs, my sacroiliac joints, and a number
of other nerves and muscles, lifting a patient while working as an EMT.
I spent 9 months hobbling around from doctor to doctor. Eventually I
reinjured myself in physical (land) therapy. This left me bedridden
for 18 months. For the next 8 years I was heavily medicated and in and
out of hospitals for pain flare-ups that left me unable to move, let
alone walk. I used a wheel chair, hospital bed, back brace, finally
a walker, and then my trusty cane.
During those years I was in the care of two pain management doctors
and underwent a lot of out-patient pain relief procedures, (needles
and more needles). This helped control and mask the pain but did nothing
to cure it. I was referred to pool therapy. I hesitated because I had
tried pool therapy before. Then I spotted Aquatic Therapy's brochure.
This looked very different. I decided to investigate.
What I found has changed my life. Working out in deep water made a huge
difference in how my body responded to exercise. When I started I was
totally de-conditioned and by now had been diagnosed with Degenerative
Disc Disease and Fibromyalgia. I was in tough shape to say the least.
Working, or should I say playing, with the staff at Aquatic Therapy
is pure pleasure. In addition to my weekly exercise routine, I have
Watsu/Somatique Flow sessions. This is an amazing therapy. The quiet
relaxation that overtakes my mind and body while being gently swirled
through the water is nothing short of awesome! My muscles and joints
are massaged and flexed without pain!
Within 4 weeks of beginning my new life with "the girls" I
was off all my narcotics! I have retired my cane to the back of my closet.
Now, 2 months later, I am gaining strength, stability and muscle tone!
Everyone I see wants to know what miracle happened to me! I tell my
story to them. I have referred friends to Aquatic Therapy, and will
continue to do so. My sister will begin there this Spring after her
hip and knee replacement. I can never thank the Staff enough for all
their care, attention, and expertise.

My
physician recommended Aquatic Therapy in June 2002. He said I would
love it! Well, I thought, who is he kidding? I was scared to death!
I didn't want anyone to see my old fat body! I didn't know how to swim
and I have terrible fear of deep water!! I'd like to share with you
an excerpt from my journal entry on August 5, 2003. "Aquatic Therapy
is the greatest!!! It has given me much needed exercise.
The water massages and heals all the cells in my body as I work. It
has given me self-confidence. I feel happy with myself in the pool.
Also, I've noticed that I feel loving and kind to others around me in
the pool". Later in August, 2003, I wrote, "Today I had a great
session in the awesome water and place! I'm happy there, I'm so grateful
for ATNS. It has played a major role in turning my life around! I feel
strong, healthy, and happy." Yes, indeed!
Now, February 2005, I've lost over twenty pounds. My bone density has
increased by 10.1% without medication, only by my exercise in the pool.
During these three years at ATNS, there were many mornings when I didn't
want to make the effort. However, I learned not to listen to that voice.
Every time I do make the effort, as soon as I step into that wonderful
pool, all my negative feelings and pain melt away and I'm so glad I'm
there!
